Red Bluffs of Lillian Protection Project

The scour from the recent hurricanes removed over 18' of the section of Perdido Bay known as Red Bluff, leaving several homes in peril. CMB was selected to protect the Bluffs from future storm surge by constructing a wooden bulkhead at the toe of the bluff. The bulkhead utilizes 16' material driven 8' deep, leaving an 8' wall of protection. CMB obtained the necessary permits to dredge nearly 10,000 cubic yards of sand from Perdido Bay for use as backfill. When completed the wall will be fronted by a 4' high barrier of 200lb riprap.

In addition to the bulkhead, CMB has built two new piers with gazebos, three sets of stairs down the bluff, a 16'x24' "Bluff Deck" and rebuilt another pier and gazebo. Three more piers and and two boathouses are planned as well.
